My new release ‘Breaking the Bread’. I hope you enjoy. This was written in a day and is a fairly simple folk tune. I also made a video for this on my YouTube channel. As always, this was all recorded using two instruments; my guitar and 80s keyboard, as well as my voice and a looped drum track. Compared to some of my other songs, I kept the instrumentation pretty simple and built into a slight crescendo in the final chorus. Lyrically, I was in a bit of a ponderous, introspective mood and deliberately made my lyrics ambiguous, you can interpret them as you wish haha. As some of you know, all aspects to my music is done completely by myself so I really appreciate the time you have taken to listen to this track. Be sure to like and share if you feel the need. Thank you so much!
lyrics
From rolling emerald hills, west to the mountains
We’ve lived two hundred thousand years and counting
And we will never stop our song from a-sounding
Like the harmonious water of a fountain
Lo and behold, the breaking of the bread
Lo and behold, the breaking of the bread
The bread, the bread
The bread, the bread
We halt our wanderings on this blue respite
They say it’s a glimmering paradise of light
True, I knew I loved him deeply at my first sight
But now he is an eternal phantom bight
Lo and behold, the breaking of the bread
Lo and behold, the breaking of the bread
The bread, the bread
The bread, the bread
Oh
Lo and behold, the breaking of the bread
Lo and behold, the breaking of the bread
The bread, the bread
The bread, the bread
The bread, the bread
The bread, the bread
Clutching at the coattails of gothic folk, Rosa Lavenne delivers a dreamy sound with melancholic lyricism. Heavy on reverbed
synths, as well as the folk traditions of fingerstyle guitar and melodic harmonies, mean that Rosa stands at the crossroads between tradition and modernism....more
