Sainte​-​Chapelle

My new track ‘Sainte-Chapelle’; written, recorded and produced by myself. This track is a dreamy folk track and I made it using my acoustic guitar and 80s synth keyboard. The French chorus was originally going to be a backing vocal but I quickly realised that it sounded better on its own and so made it the main chorus. As with a lot of my songs, I originally plan on making them very minimal in terms of production but I always end up throwing much more than intended at them. However, I really tried to hold back with this one and purposefully made the production quite simple; just adding a few synths on the final chorus. For those who don’t know, the Sainte-Chapelle is a gothic-style chapel in Paris that was commissioned by Louise IX as his personal place of worship and it got me thinking about the contrast between the grandeur of these medieval cathedrals and the poverty of the surrounding cities. Even with these places of immense beauty, the misery of the people cannot be hidden. Not a political or religious message, I just find these kinds of things interesting. I studied it in university cos I am a huge nerd lol. I hope you enjoy.
