about

A little Gothic number for October

lyrics

The black sky turned crimson
When blood leaked from the Heavens
And the flames, they got higher
Under some callous desire

The town stood in terror
At the evil endeavour
The church lay in ruins
For what was this undoing?

But that was the last time I prayed for the end
Guess I didn’t need God, no, I just needed a friend

See, I was a lonesome child
And nothing could keep my mind
From entering into Hell
But this I could never tell

I felt like the church’s tower
Relinquished from holy power
When a message Heaven-sent
I would be rebuilt again

And that was the last time I prayed for the end
Guess I didn’t need God, no I just needed a friend

By summer, the dark went, the nave filled with incense
And I walked to the chevet saying, ‘deliver me, amen’

And that was the last time I prayed for the end
Guess I didn’t need God, no I just needed a friend
